Mumbai–Pune Expressway and Yamuna Expressway tolls (2026): state expressways, their own rules, and why the Annual Pass does not apply

Mumbai–Pune Expressway: the 2004 notification

The Yashwantrao Chavan Mumbai–Pune Expressway is tolled under Maharashtra PWD notification 2000/Pr.kr.-106/Road-8 of 9 August 2004, issued under section 20 of the Bombay Motor Vehicles Tax Act 1958. The notification names the collection centres, the Talegaon and Khalapur main plazas, the Khalapur and Kusgaon connector ramp plazas, and the Shedung plaza for the Panvel bypass, and sets the pay-once rule: vehicles crossing more than one toll collection centre pay only once, at the first. Two- and three-wheelers and tractors are not permitted on the expressway. Exempt vehicles include defence vehicles, vehicles with red or amber beacons, listed dignitaries, Maharashtra MLAs, MLCs, and MPs, police, fire, ambulances and accident-relief vehicles, hearses, and project inspection vehicles.

MSRDC's project page describes four plaza locations over the 95 km from Kalamboli to Dehu Road, but its rate table still shows the 2008–11 car toll of ₹140; treat it as historical. Note that msrdc.in is the corporation's official site and that a similarly named domain now serves unrelated content.

Mumbai–Pune: today's toll and who collects it

The notification raises tolls by six percent a year applied every three years. The current step took effect on 1 April 2023, when press reports of the schedule put the car toll at ₹320, light commercial vehicles and mini-buses at ₹495, two-axle trucks at ₹685, buses at ₹940, three-axle vehicles at ₹1,630, and multi-axle vehicles at ₹2,165. No MSRDC-hosted 2023 schedule was found. MSRDC stated in March 2025, again per press, that no further increase will be implemented until 30 April 2030. Tolling is operated by IRB Infrastructure under a toll-operate-transfer concession awarded in February 2020 for ten years and two months, ending on 30 April 2030, at a bid of ₹8,262 crore, covering four fee plazas. FASTag has been compulsory at Maharashtra state plazas since 1 April 2025, with double toll for vehicles without it, according to press reports of the state order.

Yamuna Expressway: YEIDA's three plazas

The Yamuna Expressway from Greater Noida to Agra is regulated by the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority, which fixes the rates, and was built and operated by Jaypee Infratech; press reports state that control passed to the Suraksha Group in 2024 under the insolvency resolution plan. There are three plazas, at Jewar, Mathura, and Agra. YEIDA's toll page, whose footer showed a last-updated date of 3 September 2026, publishes the table below and lists payment as manual or by smart tag; FASTag has been mandatory on the expressway since June 2021 according to press reports.

The three-plaza car total of ₹415 is the figure on our Greater Noida → Agra route page. Two caveats: YEIDA's table matches the earlier ₹2.50 per kilometre schedule, while press reports describe a rise to ₹2.65 per kilometre from 1 September 2022 and ₹2.95 from 1 October 2024, which would put the end-to-end car toll near ₹487, and a further increase of about five percent was proposed to YEIDA in May 2026 with no approval found by September. Why the FASTag Annual Pass does not work here

IHMCL's FAQ is explicit: the Annual Pass is valid only at national highway and national expressway fee plazas, and at plazas on expressways and state highways managed by state governments or local bodies the FASTag operates as a regular FASTag. Both expressways in this guide are state-managed, so crossings are charged from the FASTag balance and are not deducted from the 200. The NHAI local pass and the return and monthly discounts of the Fee Rules 2008 do not apply either; each expressway's own notification governs.

Planning the trip

For Mumbai to Pune, budget ₹320 for a car each way, paid once at Khalapur from the Mumbai side or at Talegaon from the Pune side; entering or leaving at an intermediate interchange is charged by distance under the notification, and the exact split is not published. For Greater Noida to Agra, budget between ₹415 and about ₹487 for a car depending on which schedule is in force, paid at three plazas.
